Free Polymarket historical data: every option

Polymarket's own API gives you price history and trades for free, with no key. What no free official source gives you is the order book as it was in the past: the bids, asks and depth you need to know what a trade would have cost. Below is each free source, what it covers, and where it stops.

Last updated:

1. Polymarket's Data API: prices and trades

Price history: GET https://data-api.polymarket.com/v2/prices-history returns a price series for one outcome token. It covers markets back to 2022, but at decreasing resolution with age: 1-minute buckets for at least 7 days, 5-minute for 60 days, 30-minute for 90 days, then 3-hour and 12-hour buckets. Custom date ranges are capped at 15 days per request.

Trades: GET /v2/trades returns up to 1,000 trades per request with cursor paging, over a 3-year window per market. Data API v1 is retired on October 24, 2026.

Leaves out: order-book depth, spreads and bid/ask at any past moment. The docs also do not define whether the history price is a midpoint or a last trade. See the Polymarket API guide for limits and auth.

2. On-chain data: Dune and CryptoHouse

Every Polymarket fill settles on Polygon, so trades, positions and redemptions are public. Polymarket's docs point to Dune for SQL dashboards and to CryptoHouse, a free SQL interface built by Goldsky and ClickHouse. Goldsky and Allium also offer pipelines into your own warehouse.

Leaves out: resting orders. Only fills reach the chain, so the order book, quotes and cancellations are not there.

3. Community datasets

Snapshots of Polymarket data are shared on Kaggle and GitHub. They are useful for a first look, but check three things before relying on one: the date range, whether it includes depth or only prices, and whether it is still updated. Most stop at a fixed date.

4. Free historical order books: Resolved Markets Free tier

Resolved Markets has recorded full-depth Polymarket order books since March 2026. The Free tier, with no card required, includes:

  • Crypto up/down markets for BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, DOGE, HYPE, BNB, every timeframe.
  • Full order-book depth, trades and settlement results.
  • The full archive back to March 2026, through the API.
  • 5,000 credits a month (a 500-row snapshot page costs 5) and 300 requests a minute.

Leaves out: WebSocket streaming (Pro and above), non-crypto categories and Hyperliquid (Scale and above), and politics markets, which are not collected on any plan. See coverage and pricing.

Which one to use

  • Charting odds over time: Polymarket /v2/prices-history.
  • Volume, wallets and PnL: Data API trades, Dune or CryptoHouse.
  • Backtesting a trading strategy: historical order books, because fills depend on depth. See how to build and test a bot.
